Mass change for pay codes


Request: A client asked for details on how to make a mass change to all pay codes. 

Solution: The emPath application provides a powerful user controlled feature which supports mass changes.  Mass change supports formulas for selection and calculation of changes.  In addition mass change supports a preliminary report to view the results before the change is made.

Documentation on how to use mass change can be found in the emPath online help.

Following are the steps involved and an example screen print for the specific request.  However, it is important to remember that the mass change feature is very powerful and can do much more than was included in this request.

(1) Backup the database

(2) Login to emPath

(3) navigate to (payroll > operations > changes > mass changes)

(4) hover over edit icon and select new entry

(5) select table name of EPF and type of S click continue

(6) enter effective date and a reason

(7) IMPORTANT, leave update unchecked on the first processing. 

(8) Enter formula values

IF EMPSTATUS EQ "AC", SELECT-RECORD = "Y"
IF EMPSTATUS EQ "LV", SELECT-RECORD = "Y"
AMT-BASE = AMT-BASE * 0.95



(9) Click ok

(10) navigate to (payroll > operations > changes > mass changes)  you should see a the following:



(11) hover over the edit icon and select submit

(12) click ok

(13) wait 10 minutes then navigate to (reporting > view reports)

(14) select the latest pr490 report and ask the user to verify the proposed changes

(15) navigate to (payroll > operations > changes > mass changes)

(16) select the mass change just created

(17) hover over the edit icon and select modify

(18) check mark the update field

(19) click ok

(20)  navigate to (payroll > operations > changes > mass changes)

(21) Hover over the edit icon and select submit

(22) Click ok

(23) Wait 10 minutes then navigate to (reporting > view reports)

(24) select the latest pr490 report and ask the user to verify the changes

(25) ask the user to select several employees and verify the salary changes are correct and that history is show.
